Where the collages began...

The walls in my room where always quite bare. If they did ever have something on them it would be an exam timetable or some generic poster that looked so static on its own.

During the first lockdown, much like most teens-I was stuck in my room and really hated my surroundings and began to experiment with what materials i had around me to upcycle something new.

I was quite happy with what i created and (of course) posted it up on my instagram and quite a few people had had asked me where i'd bought it from. I made it myself. From scratch. This made me realise that there were a lot of people, especially students living in accommodation who were not satisfied with their surroundings but would spend hours online on apps such as pinterest looking at their dream home/room and looking at 'aesthetic' posts. This is where i felt like i had some skill in creating a little aesthetic excerpt that you could arrange and rearrange however you wanted to feel happier in your surroundings. Better to stare at some vintage posters than a bare wall.

I have also been a HUGE fan of Marilyn Monroe and had a few books about her lying around that i hadn't picked up since childhood when i would flick through the pages in awe and admiration. I wanted to bring back that charm i had for those books and carefully cut out my favourite pages which made the base for my own collage as seen here in close up as well as some old postcards i had bought from the National Gallery and some old encyclopaedia pages and some roses i had dried and hung up.

I wanted to create this experience of falling back in love with your space, especially as we were all having to now stay in our rooms for everyone's safety. I really did not expect so much interest in these. But, this business really did surprise me of just how popular it had become on Depop-I have sent collage packs to America, Australia and even Korea. It's very strange to have your little bits of art hang in someone's room. Its also been very motivating seeing the feedback.
(As seen below is a small compilation of just some of my reviews)

However, Depop itself is not a great app, i don't have that great a relationship with my clients on there-its a very alienating experience of just buy and go rather than curating an experience which i believe i have achieved to as small group which i am very happy with and would like to hopefully expand on here :)
